A Litany of Grace for Overwhelmed Moms

Before you pray this litany, I want to share a little of my story with you.

I haven’t always been steady in my faith. I was raised Catholic, but for many years I drifted — searching for peace in new-age spirituality, self-help, and the endless hamster wheel of “becoming better.” I was always seeking… but never quite found actual peace…

After I had my twins, something shifted.

It wasn’t dramatic or loud. And it for sure wasn’t a born-again moment. It was quieter than that — more like a nudge:

Come seek Me. You will find peace.

And when I opened myself back up to Jesus, I was honestly blown away. Not because my life suddenly became easier — but because I felt grounded.

That doesn’t mean I’ve been perfectly faithful since. I’ve questioned and I’ve drifted again... I’ve struggled to stay consistent in my relationship with Him.

But here’s what I’ve learned:
He never left.

Every time I wandered, I came back sooner…

A little more surrendered.

And eventually I realized — the peace I was searching for “out there” was never out there at all.

It was found in that surrender.
In HIS grace.
In trusting that I don’t have to hold everything together — which was the biggest *sigh of relief* ever…

This Litany of Grace was born from that place.

From the exhaustion of motherhood.
From the pressure to do it all.
From the desire to create peace instead of chaos.
From learning — s l o w l y — to release control and trust that He is guiding and protecting us, especially when we are tired and unsure.

If you are a mother who questions…
If you are exhausted but still want to do better…
If you crave order, peace, and presence in your home…

You belong here.

Take this moment. Breathe. Pray. Be Still …

How Litanies Offer Grace and Peace for Mothers

One practice that has deeply resonated with me is the use of litanies in prayer. If you’re unfamiliar, a litany is a series of prayers or invocations, often with repetitive responses, that create a rhythm of reflection and surrender. This structured prayer can be incredibly grounding, offering a space to release our burdens while anchoring us in God’s grace.

I first fell in love with the Litany of Trust—a beautiful prayer that has helped me surrender fears and anxieties. Yet, as a mother, I craved a prayer that spoke directly to my daily struggles: the guilt, and that inner need to do it all, and the exhaustion that comes from it all.

When I couldn’t find one that fully encompassed the emotions and experiences I was navigating, I decided to write my own.
