21 Family Friendly Soup Recipes
Soup season has finally arrived!! Though if I am honest, I will make soups all year round, I just will do lighter ones during the warmer months. They are my favorite meal prep food to have for lunches and pulling together a quick dinner. But once autumn rolls around, I feel like I can go all in and have more of those comfort soups that truly are a full cozy meal in a bowl
Why Soup is a Busy Mom’s Best Friend
As a stay-at-home mom, I’m always balancing our budget, time, and what my family will actually eat. Soup checks every box:
Budget-friendly: Stretch a pound of meat, a bag of beans, or a handful of veggies into a full meal.
Healthy & filling: With lots of ways to sneak in extra veggies, protein, or grains, soup is naturally nourishing.
Make-ahead friendly: Prep in the morning or toss into the slow cooker and forget about it.
Meal prep win: Leftovers reheat beautifully for lunches all week long. Some soups even taste better the next day.
I was so excited to create this roundup for you! I asked fellow mom and food bloggers to share their favorite go-to soups that will give you dinner ideas from fall through winter!! I am pretty confident you are going to love this list! There is a ton of variety, even your picky eaters will be happy with at least one of the options (unless they truly hate the texture of soup… then I guess it is chicken nuggets, again, for them!). Number 3 is literally my kids’ favorite, they will be scraping the bowl with biscuits at the end, never a drop left!

Tips for Soup Meal Prep
If you’re making soup anyway, here are a few of my favorite hacks:
Double the recipe so you can freeze half or have lunches ready for the week.
Store in freezer containers, like these to keep extra around
Keep toppings handy blocks of cheese to shred (or pre-shredded if you prefer) croutons, tortilla strips are all easy pantry items to keep around to pull a soup together from the freezer!
It’s one of those small habits that saves my sanity during the week, especially when things feel busy and I need something nourishing and done in minutes.
