Easy Breakfast Ideas for Kids Before School

Family Breakfast Recipe Ideas

The school mornings somehow always seem harder than we expect them to be.

No matter how much prep I try to do the night before, there are still mornings where everyone is rushing around, someone can’t get a knot out of their shoe (again!), and getting the kids to actually eat a decent breakfast before heading out the door suddenly feels impossible.

As my boys have gotten older, breakfast has somehow become even trickier. Some mornings they just don’t want to eat that early… and if I serve the same thing they LOVE too many days in a week, everyone suddenly decides they are “tired of it.” Planning breakfasts, along with lunches, dinners, snacks, and all of the other school week meals, can become mentally exhausting as a mom.

Over the years, I’ve had to come up with a lot of simple ways to make school morning breakfasts easier. Sometimes that means prepping a few things ahead over the weekend, making freezer-friendly breakfasts to reheat during the week, or just keeping a simple rotation of easy breakfast ideas so I don’t have to constantly think about what to make every morning.

That’s exactly why I asked some fellow moms and food bloggers to share some of their favorite kid-friendly breakfast ideas for busy school mornings! This roundup is filled with easy breakfasts for kids that are realistic for real life, including make-ahead breakfasts, freezer meals, pancakes, muffins, egg bites, smoothies, and fun breakfast ideas that help make mornings feel just a little less stressful.

Whatever season of motherhood you are in, I hope these easy breakfast ideas help bring a little more simplicity, full bellies, and calmer routines to your school week mornings!
