How to Set Intentional, Soul-Led Goals for the New Year

The past year was a massive season of purging and clearing. The years leading up to it stretched many of us beyond our limits, and this season carried a similarly intense energy—just in a different way. It may have felt rough, but that challenge helped lay the foundation for bigger transformations to come. Even if your growth wasn’t obvious on the outside, you might sense a deep internal SHIFT, one that’s propelling you forward with renewed energy.

How do you feel about letting go of the past year?

Many of us underwent major mental, emotional, and spiritual shifts that others couldn’t necessarily see. The challenges of this past season served a purpose: to clear the path for what’s coming next. If you still feel like you’re “cleaning house,” that’s perfectly valid—there’s no universal deadline for growth.

Last year, I wasn’t ready to declare a New Year until spring. If that resonates with you, feel free to explore the post below.

How do you feel about letting go of the past season and stepping into what’s next?

Celebrating a Slow & Gentle New Year

If you are not feeling the fresh energy of the New Year, then this post is for you. All about how to lean into the slow and reflective season of winter and set yourself up for a truly intentional year of living!

Ditch the January 1st Pressure

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE SETTING RESOLUTIONS… I ASK YOU… WHY?

You set a resolution because you want to change (a.k .a. resolve) about yourself, and I understand. I’ve got a list of things I want to improve, and we should all want to grow into our best selves.

But when you think of setting these changes for yourself, what energy are you carrying behind it? Is it for you or for how others will view you? Is it coming from a rushed, frantic, or even manic energy… “I have to make this change because xyz.. in this amount of time”…

Or are you looking to make a change in the energy of your highest good, slowly and gently? … knowing your soul is leading the way...

Which is why I am saying ….

SCREW RESOLUTIONS

✧ Let’s talk about intuitive intention ✧

Just because the calendar flips doesn’t mean you have to fix everything right away. True transformation happens on your own terms.

Consider this :

>> Authentic Growth Doesn’t Follow a Date: Real change rarely adheres to a rigid schedule.

>> Avoid Burnout: Setting high-pressure goals in January can leave you feeling rushed or overwhelmed.

>> Trust Your Own Rhythm: If your renewed energy kicks in next week—or next month—that’s okay!

Resolutions vs. Intentions

Before you rush to create a list of “should-dos,” pause and consider the energy behind your goals.

✧ Resolutions

  • Often fueled by external pressures (“I must lose 10 pounds by March,” “I should finally read 20 books”).

  • Can spark guilt, stress, or a sense of failure if things don’t go perfectly.

  • Tend to be rooted in how we want others to perceive us—or how we feel we should be.

✧ Intentions

  • Soul-led and aligned with personal values.

  • Emphasize growth, presence, and a gentler approach.

  • Foster sustainable change over time, free from harsh deadlines or frantic energy.

What Is Intuitive Intention?

This is where we lean into intuitive intention—your superpower for genuine, soul-led living.

Intuition Basics

Why It Matters:

  • It recognizes that your soul already knows the path to your highest good.

  • It bypasses rushed, manic energy and focuses on slow, deliberate growth.

Connection to the Divine: Your spirit (connected to the Divine/God) often guides you to exactly what you need—even if it isn’t what you thought you wanted.

Take a breath, place a hand on your heart, and ask: “What intentions is my intuition guiding me toward for this year?”

Let Your Soul Guide Your New Year Goals

If you’re ready to begin laying the groundwork for the New Year, try these steps:

  1. Pause & Reflect

    • Give yourself space (through journaling or meditation) to honor what the past year taught you.

  2. Tune In

    • Hand on heart, take a few slow, deep breaths. Ask: What truly needs my attention right now?

  3. Set Intentions, Not Just Goals

    • Focus on how you want to feel and be, not just on what you want to do or accomplish.

  4. Embrace Gradual Progress

    • Real change happens slowly, so pace yourself and trust your inner timing.
